Circuit Breaker Day 45 meals

Singapore is currently having our circuit breaker where we have to work from home and avoid going out except for essentials like getting groceries.

My mum has been cooking for us on weekdays and on weekends we will pack food from nearby.

So today, for lunch, an egg tofu was prepared with porridge.

Lunch:

My mum prepared it by cutting up some onions, carrots and mashing up the tofu. She then adding soya sauce, hua diao jiu, fish sauce and then steam and added some eggs on top.

The flavour was good but the tofu had a lot of water being released. It was a simple meal.

Dinner:

For dinner, my mum prepared yong tau fu with dry noodles. She bought pre-packaged chilli and just mixed it with the noodles she bought from the market. It is nice having meals at home and even after the circuit breaker, we are still not allowed to dine outside so not much blog post coming up i guess.

Coconut Club @ Ann Siang Hill

A craze has recently come for Nasi lemak as it was remade into a burger by McDonald and a deconstructed nasi lemak. Nasi lemak has become really hyped up. My family has been wanting to try the nasi lemak at Coconut Club and it attracted us more after we saw this article of PM Lee bringing President Duterte there.

Of course, when people think of Nasi lemak, they don't expect prices too high unless it is ponggol nasi lemak. The nasi lemak at Coconut Club cost $12.80 and it comes with chicken leg, ikan bilis, peanuts, cucumber, fried egg and sambal. The rice and sambal are refillable hence it explains the somewhat smaller portion of rice given in the beginning and I guess is a good initiative to reduce food wastage.

We got the Nasi lemak and also the sambal sotong not seen in the online menu. Also got a bandung. One other way that we saw other customers eat is that they order rice and then the various individual dishes like the fish or lala and share. The sambal sotong that came was a pretty substantial portion and also tasted good. the sotong was not overcooked and blended with the sauce. The sauce went very well with the rice which we had a refill of. The nasi lemak coconut rice was fragrant and the chicken leg was nicely fried. The sambal was a good match with the ikan bilis, peanut and rice.

The whole package of the nasi lemak was a very good combination. Coconut Club definitely isn't just famous for their Nasi Lemak but also their chendol so we also ordered one bowl of it.

Overall, it is a nice place to eat at and everything is good and doesn't disappoint. But for it's price point, I think a WOW factor would still be needed. But for foreigners who would like to have good nasi lemak can give this a try.

Wonderful Bap Sang Review- Suntec City

I recently started using the app Eatigo and realised that the discounts there are pretty worth it if you are willing to eat during odd hours for example 3pm or 4pm. So on Sunday while we were at Suntec and deciding what to eat, I opened up my Eatigo app and saw Wonderful Bap Sang.

The shop is pretty unique in that it is located in a mart, Lee's mart as you can see in the picture below.

So we order a vegetarian gimbap, fishcakes (Eomuk) and an army stew. The bill came up to $50.20 with a 10% discount. The gimbap and fishcakes are from Lee's mart where they have a counter doing this. The gimbap and fishcakes were good especially the gimbap.

The army stew (Pork Bulgogi) arrived and they were pretty generous with the portion and meat. I also like that the rice cakes were sliced thinly unlike the normal 'chalk' kind of rice cake. There was also glass noodles in it which added another layer of texture to the dish. However, I found the soup to be too sweet for my liking as I prefer savoury tasting soups than sweet. The spiciness level was good and overall an enjoyable dish.

They also provided free flow sides and the environment was clean and spacious. Water was charged at $0.30. Overall, the dishes were good however after the meal for the rest of the day, we were very thirsty and had to drink a lot of water.
